MLB Rumors: AL East Contender In The Market For Pitching At The Trade Deadline

The Baltimore Orioles, after years of rebuilding and top picks in the MLB Draft have finally put it all together, as they sit in first place in the AL East as August approaches for the first time in a long time, and now, they appear to be buyers at the upcoming MLB trade deadline.

According to Buster Olney of ESPN, the Orioles are considered 'measured buyers' at the trade deadline, with pitching being their biggest area of priority, and with so many names out there, they will be aggressive in pursuit of an arm or two to help their World Series push. 

Rival execs say the Orioles seem to be measured buyers leading up to the deadline — willing to deal from position player surplus to upgrade pitching, but not perceived to be fishing for big, pricey deals, at this point.

With the deepest prospect pool in the sport, Baltimore have enough pieces to go out and find a starter, as well as a reliever or two at the deadline, and if that happens, they could be genuine contenders as the 2023 season rolls on.
