Insider Drops Intel: 2 Major Stars Who Will NOT Be Traded At Deadline
There have been some huge names being floated as possible trade candidates at the trade deadline coming up on Aug. 1st. But according to one Insider, two names who we can take off the list are Shohei Ohtani and Juan Soto.
"According to my latest intel, (Shohei) Ohtani and (Juan) Soto are not being traded at the deadline," @JimBowdenGM writes.

"According to my latest intel," writes former MLB GM and Insider for The Athletic, "(Shohei) Ohtani and (Juan) Soto are not being traded at the deadline."
Ohtani, of course, has been the subject of rampant speculation, as he gets set to become a free agent this offseason in what will be the wildest frenzy ever seen in baseball. He's currently on pace to crack the 60-HR barrier, and the Angels do not want to see that done in another team's uniform. A trade of a player of his magnitude would have topped the last biggest trade deadline blockbuster of all-time, that of Juan Soto going from the Washington Nationals to the San Diego Padres last year.
But Bowden says he's hearing that Soto will also not be dealt. The Padres still have another year of control of the young 3-time All-Star and two-time Top 5 MVP finisher.
While the Angels sit 4.0 games back of the last Wild Card berth, with two teams to leapfrog, the Padres are 5.5 back, but only one team to overcome, and much more talent on their roster to get it done.
