Report: Pittsburgh Pirates To Promote Former No. 1 Overall Pick
Through the first month of the 2023 MLB season, the Pittsburgh Pirates were one of the hottest teams in all of baseball, but in their past 11 games, they've managed to come away with just 9 wins, seeing them fall under .500 and back to third place in the NL Central, and now, they're making a big move to hopefully turn momentum.
On Sunday, it was confirmed that the team will be calling up 2021 No. 1 overall pick Henry Davis, who has hit a combined .284 with 11 home runs and 30 RBI's in 2023 between AA and AAA, and will come to the MLB looking to spark this team.
Through the start of 2023, Pittsburgh have had terrible production out of the catcher position, with Austin Hedges catching 42 games this year while hitting just .175, and with great defence and a power bat, the team will be hoping that he can be a force immediately as they look to make an NL Wild Card push. The Pirates are calling up 2021 first overall pick Henry Davis, per @JMackeyPG pic.twitter.com/atJYmPICp8
