Report: Cleveland Guardians To Promote Top Pitching Prospect
The Cleveland Guardians, despite their injuries in 2023 have managed to stay tight in the American League Central division, and while the lineup has been steady all season long, it's the pitching staff that just can't seem to stay healthy.
The team are now officially promoting top prospect, 23-year old right hander Gavin Williams, who will make his major league debut on Wednesday against the Oakland Athletics after a fantastic start to the 2023 minor league campaign.
In 14.1 innings at AA this year, Williams posted a 0.63 ERA with 20 strikeouts, and followed that up by stepping up to AAA with a 2.93 ERA through 46 innings along with 60 strikeouts, and after another setback for Triston McKenzie, he's expected to play a big role for this rotation going forward. The #Guardians are promoting 23-year-old RHP prospect Gavin Williams to make his MLB debut on Wednesday vs the A's.
