MLB Rumors: Andrew McCutcheon Sought In Trade By AL Contender
It was one of the feel-good stories of the new baseball season. Andrew McCutchen's return to Pittsburgh. It even sparked the team on an exciting run to first place for a time, as Cutch, the former MVP in Pittsburgh, is off to his best start in several seasons, with an OPS+ of 127.
The Rangers are one team to watch with McCutchen.

They are legitimate World Series contenders who have below-average DH production this year.
In 2018, McCutchen played for current Texas manager Bruce Bochy in San Francisco. @MLBNetwork @MLBNetworkRadio https://t.co/vgfNEtQrCB
Morosi notes that McCutchen played for current Texas manager Bruce Bochy in San Francisco back in 2018.
It would be strange, indeed, for the Bucs to trade their franchise icon a second time, just three months into his second run with the team. But if the return is right for the building Bucs, it could happen. The Rangers are a team that doesn't like to take 'no' for an answer.
Morosi adds that while the Rangers have broached the possibility of acquiring McCutchen, the Pirates aren't quite ready to move on from him just yet. He says that the deal would have particular interest to Texas if at least one pitcher is part of the deal, as well. He didn't, however, reveal the names of any pitchers.
Cutch is hitting .271 in his triumphant return to the City of Bridges, with an incredible .394 on-base percentage and an .825 OPS. He has 9 HR, 24 RBIs and 9 SBs.
