Cincinnati Reds Rumors: Star Closer Becoming Trade Candidate
The Cincinnati Reds are open for business as we inch close to the 2023 MLB Trade Deadline. This is understandable, as they are still rebuilding and currently have a 26-29 record. Due to this, they are willing to listen to offers for star closer Alexis Diaz.
The Reds are not in a position to be contenders for quite some time, so it would make sense for them to move a closer with high trade value like Diaz. After all, having a closer of Diaz's caliber while rebuilding may not be necessary, and he could help them land prospects who would have the potential to improve their roster elsewhere later down the road.
Playoff teams are always looking for pitching help, so we should expect to see Diaz get a lot of attention on the trade market. This is especially so when noting that he will be under team control for quite some time.
In 22 appearances this season, Diaz has been excellent, as he sports a 1-1 record to go along with a 1.69 ERA. With that, he also has 13 saves.
Some teams to pay attention to in the Diaz sweepstakes include the Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, New York Mets, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Atlanta Braves.
