Veteran Infielder Opts Out Of Deal With The San Diego Padres
The San Diego Padres have been dealing with an injury crisis to their infield as of late, losing both Manny Machado (Injured List) and Ha-Seong Kim (left yesterday's game after taking a pitch to the knee) in recent times, and now, it appears to be getting worse.
Now, veteran infielder Jose Iglesias has officially opted out of his minor league deal with the team, and will explore other options, as the 33-year old is still an elite glove in the middle of the infield, as well as being a solid bat and a veteran presence.
In 11-years at the MLB level, Iglesias holds a solid .279 average, while being one of the best defenders in all of baseball, and after a solid 122 games for Colorado last season, he will no doubt garner plenty of interest on the free agent market in the coming weeks.
