Tampa Bay Rays Claim Veteran Reliever
The Tampa Bay Rays have been off to one of the hottest starts in Major League Baseball history in 2023, and unsurprisingly as a smaller market team, they've built their current roster off smart waiver claims, solid, under the radar trades and great development from their farm system.
On Friday, they made another one of those smart moves, as they have claimed veteran RHP Zack Littell on waivers from the Boston Red Sox, after he spent less than a week with the team, making Tampa Bay his third team in 2023.
Littell found most of his MLB success with the San Francisco Giants, where he had an ERA at 2.92 in a career year back in 2021, and if any team can get that success out of him again in 2023, it's no doubt the red-hot Tampa Bay Rays.#Rays have claimed 27 year old RHP Zack Littell off waivers from BOS. He’s pitched in parts of 6 MLB seasons and owns a career 4.17 ERA in 172.2 IP.

He works with a lively mid 90’s FB, upper 80’s SL, and mid 80’s splitter. He’s also out of minor league options. pic.twitter.com/crmQ0cz24P
