San Francisco Giants Place Promising Young Infielder On Injured List
The San Francisco Giants may have made some big misses this past off-season, but on the field, despite their slow start, they've managed to turn it around in a big way, and a big reason for that has been their youth infusion, with middle infielder Thairo Estrada blossoming into an elite second baseman right before our eyes.
Unfortunately for the red-hot Giants, who have won 8 of their last 10 games, they have now placed Estrada on the 10-day Injured List with a left wrist sprain, with young David Villar being recalled to the MLB to take his spot.
After a promising 2022 campaign, Estrada has been fantastic this year, posting a .301 average with 6 Home Runs and 17 RBI in 47 games, and with a promising future, the Giants will be looking to get him back soon as he cements his place as the permanent second baseman going forward.David Villar is back. Thairo Estrada is headed to the 10-day IL with a left wrist sprain. Villar took a redeye from Sac to Chicago and the only belongings he has are his glove and the clothes he’s wearing. United wouldn’t let him check his bags!
