San Francisco Giants Acquire Catcher From Seattle Mariners

The San Francisco Giants have reportedly completed a trade with the Seattle Mariners to acquire catcher Jacob Nottingham.

The specific details of the trade remain undisclosed, but it is likely that cash considerations were involved in the deal.

Nottingham, a 28-year-old catcher, recently signed a minor league deal with the Mariners and has been playing for their Triple-A affiliate, Tacoma.

In his 17 games with Tacoma, Nottingham has showcased some power, hitting four home runs. Despite not playing in the major leagues since the 2021 season, Nottingham will now join the Giants' organization and provide much-needed catching depth.

He is expected to join the Giants' Triple-A affiliate in Sacramento, where he will fulfill a crucial role within the team's catching corps.

For his minor-league career, Nottingham holds a .249/.329/.412 triple-slash line, with 77 home runs, 352 RBIs, 45 stolen bases, and 326 runs scored across 664 games played. Photo Credit: Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports
