In exchange for cash considerations, the Astros aim to strengthen their Triple-A rotation, which has been depleted due to recent promotions and injuries to Luis Garcia and José Urquidy.
Allgeyer has only made one relief appearance in the majors, with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2021.
The 27-year-old holds a 4.67 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, and 325 strikeouts across 347 innings and 99 appearances in his minor-league career.
Minor trade: the Astros acquired lefthander Nick Allgeyer from the Phillies, according to the transaction wire. Allgeyer threw one major league inning for the Blue Jays in 2021. Spent the first month of this season at Triple-A in the Phillies system.

Allgeyer's addition provides depth and potential reinforcement for the Astros' pitching staff.
The left-handed pitcher is a former 12th-round pick by the Blue Jays in the 2018 MLB Draft.
