Giants Immediately Place Veteran On Waivers After Being Reinstated From IL
San Francisco Giants' veteran Darin Ruf has had a series of roster moves in recent weeks.
Initially sidelined with a wrist injury, Ruf was recently cleared to return to action and was reinstated from the 10-day injured list. However, rather than rejoining the major league team, he was designated for assignment on Tuesday.

• IF Casey Schmitt selected from Triple-A Sacramento
• IF/OF Darin Ruf returned from his rehabilitation assignment, reinstated from the Injured List and designated for assignment
• OF Cal Stevenson optioned to Triple-A Sacramento postgame yesterday
This decision indicates that the Giants have opted to remove Ruf from the active roster, creating uncertainty about his future.
During his rehab assignment with Triple-A Sacramento, Ruf put up modest numbers, posting a batting average of .200 (4-for-20) with a double, an RBI, and a run scored.
Despite his contributions in the minor leagues, being designated for assignment means Ruf now faces multiple possibilities. He could stay with Sacramento, be claimed by another team, or be released outright.

In the 2023 season, prior to his injury, Ruf showcased a decent performance with the Giants. In 23 at-bats, he recorded six hits, including two doubles, and drove in three runs, all while maintaining a batting average of .261.
