Colorado Rockies Release Veteran Pitcher
The Colorado Rockies have been one of the worst teams in all of baseball to start the 2023 campaign, and with that, it appears they may be looking to push for the future for the rest of this season, as they have recently released a veteran arm that showed promise for them.
That veteran arm would be Fernando Abad, who the team DFA'd over the weekend, despite putting up solid numbers all year, with a 1.69 ERA in 16 innings with their Triple-A affiliate, before tossing 1 2/3 scoreless innings for Colorado.
While the fit may not have been right for the struggling Rockies, Abad showed that he still has plenty of juice left in his arm at 39-years of age, so expect him to garner plenty of interest from reliever-needy playoff teams over the coming days and weeks.
