Cincinnati Reds Place Veteran Slugger On Injured List
The Cincinnati Reds are off to a very slow start in 2023 with their young team, finding themselves in last place in the tough NL Central division, and now, they're dealing with plenty of injuries, as they have added a veteran slugger to that list.
That would be former Tampa Bay Ray and San Diego Padre Wil Myers, who has been placed on the 10-day Injured List due to a kidney stone, and in a corresponding move, have elevated outfielder Will Benson from Triple-A.
Myers has struggled in a big way this year through 37 games, hitting just .189 with 3 Home Runs and 12 RBI, so the team will be hoping that he can get hot when he gets back, but for now, getting a look at youth could be their best option. The #Reds today recalled OF Will Benson from Triple-A Louisville, reinstated RHP Fernando Cruz from the 15-day injured list, placed OF/1B Wil Myers (kidney stone) on the 10-day injured list retro to Wednesday and optioned RHP Alan Busenitz to Louisville. pic.twitter.com/eynOal3vOC
