Boston Red Sox Rumors: Team Interested In Trading For White Sox Starter

The Boston Red Sox's offense is totally fine.

It's their pitching that leaves much to be desired.

With a 5.02 team ERA, the Red Sox are fourth worst in the entire MLB in terms of team ERA, behind only the Kansas City Royals, Chicago White Sox, and the Oakland Athletics.

Yeesh, that's not good company.

As a result, the Red Sox are aiming to improve their rotation and have White Sox' starter Lucas Giolito on their radar.

After a rough 2022 season, Giolito looks back to his normal form, posting a solid 3.86 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and 56 strikeouts across 53.2 innings and nine starts so far this season.

Of those nine starts, the 28-year-old already has five quality starts as well.

If Chris Sale can continue pitching well, as he has been recently, and the Red Sox do acquire Giolito, they would make for a formidable 1-2 in their rotation.

That being said, the White Sox would probably want some MLB-ready prospects in return, however, because he's on an expiring deal, he could be had for a reasonable price.

Giolito received Cy-Young votes in three straight seasons (2019-21), finishing sixth, seventh, and 11th in the final ballots.

We'll see if Chaim Bloom and the Red Sox can get it done.
