Boston Red Sox DFA Veteran Reliever
The Boston Red Sox have been fantastic to this point in the season, but find themselves caught in a tight American League East division battle, which will no doubt lead them to potentially make some big moves if they want to snare a playoff spot in 2023.
Surprisingly then, they today DFA'd veteran relief pitcher Zack Littell, less than a week after acquiring him from the Texas Rangers, with the assumption being that this move has been made in anticipation of activating veteran starter James Paxton.
In his career, Littell has pitched 172.2 innings in six seasons, and while he's struggled over the past two years, he tallied a 2.92 ERA in 2021 with San Francisco, and if he can get back to that, he'll no doubt find a new home in 2023.The Red Sox announce they have designated Zack Littell for assignment.
