7-Team Veteran Pitcher Released Yet Again

Right-handed pitcher Jacob Barnes has been released yet again, this time by the Texas Rangers, allowing him to explore opportunities with other teams.

Despite signing a minor league contract with the Rangers in mid-January, the 33-year-old pitcher did not have the chance to make an appearance in the major leagues this season.

However, his performance in Triple-A Round Rock was impressive, with a 2.21 ERA, a 1.59 WHIP, and 17 strikeouts over 20.1 innings in 13 appearances.

These numbers make Barnes a potentially attractive prospect for other teams as the season progresses.

In the previous year, Barnes made a total of 23 appearances split between the New York Yankees and the Detroit Tigers.

For his career, spanning seven seasons, Barnes holds a 4.70 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, while averaging 9.2 K/9 across 252 appearances. Photo Credit: David Richard-USA TODAY Sports
