Tampa Bay Rays Place Outfielder On Injured List
Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Jose Siri has been placed on the 10-day injured list due to a right hamstring strain.
This is certainly a rough development, as Siri has been off to an excellent start just like the Rays in general. In six games so far on the year, the center fielder has two home runs, eight RBIs, and a .318 batting average. Although the sample size has been small, there is no question that this kind of production from Siri has been quite encouraging. Now his hot streak at the plate will need to be put on pause due to this IL stint.
The Rays have also made a call-up due to Siri's absence, as Vidal Brujan is now with the major league squad from Triple-A. Brujan will provide the Rays with a solid utilityman while he is called up. He can play second base, shortstop, and the outfield, so the Rays will be able to use him in several situations if needed.
In 62 career MLB games over two seasons with the Rays, Brujan has three home runs, 18 RBIs, and a .150 batting average. Let's see if he can improve upon these career stats during this latest call-up from here.
