Reds Place LHP On Waivers Just One Month After Claiming Him
Back to the waiver wire after just one month.
The Cincinnati Reds have designated pitcher Bennett Sousa for assignment.
The Reds claimed Sousa off of waivers from the Chicago White Sox a little over a month ago.
The 27-year-old had a nice spring, recording eight strikeouts and just one walk over 7.1 innings. As a result, he'll likely generate some interest on the waiver wire.
#Reds today selected from Triple-A Louisville the contract of RHP Kevin Herget, optioned Joel Kuhnel to Louisville and designated for assignment LHP Bennett Sousa. Sousa was claimed off waivers from the White Sox.

Sousa struggled in his 25 appearances for the White Sox last season, posting an 8.41 ERA, 1.72 WHIP, and 12 strikeouts over 20.1 innings of work.
Despite his struggles in the majors, Sousa has had success in the minors, with a solid 2.78 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, and 222 strikeouts over 175 innings of work in his career. He's made 132 relief appearances and converted 23 saves. Photo Credit: Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports
