Phillies Select Right-Handed Pitcher From Triple-A; Option Struggling Reliever

The Philadelphia Phillies have really stuggled through their first four games of the 2023 season, recording zero wins and allowing a whopping 37 runs.

As a result, some extra pitching relief was needed, and the Phillies have 24-year-old right-hander McKinley Moore, who impressed the team during spring training with his impressive 11/1 K/BB ratio in nine appearances spanning 9.1 innings.

Acquired from the Chicago White Sox in March 2022 in exchange for Adam Haseley, Moore has now been called up to the major league roster and is set to make his debut soon.

To make room for Moore, the Phillies have sent struggling reliever Yunior Marte down to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

In his two appearances this season, Marte gave up six runs on five hits and four walks, prompting the Phillies to look for additional relief options.

Overall, the Phillies are hoping that their recent bullpen moves will help them compete at the highest level and defend their title as reigning National League champions moving forward this season. Photo Credit: Nathan Ray Seebeck-USA TODAY Sports
