Miami Marlins Rumors: 3 Early-Season Trade Candidates
Welcome to Baseball Rumors' Early-Season Trade Candidates series. During it, we will be looking at three players who are already emerging as trade candidates during the beginning portion of the campaign.
In this latest installment, we will be focusing on the Miami Marlins.
Joey Wendle: If the Marlins are out of the playoff race before the deadline passes, we should expect to see Joey Wendle moved. He was in the rumor mill all offseason, but a move did not occur. With that, he is an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, so he could be a solid rental for a playoff team.
Garrett Cooper: Garrett Cooper was shopped during the offseason, but nothing came from those trade talks. However, when noting that he is also a pending UFA, there is no question that he could be on the move before the deadline. Teams looking for another option at first base will likely consider bringing him in.
Sixto Sanchez: The Marlins have a surplus of starting pitchers, and Sixto Sanchez's name has come up in the rumor mill because of it. There should be a market for him if he's officially made available before the deadline, as he is a young pitcher who the potential to be a solid starter in the majors. Thus, we will need to wait and see if he gets dealt from here.
