Miami Marlins Place Right-Handed Pitcher On Waivers

Just two days after calling Jeff Lindgren up from Triple-A, the Miami Marlins have placed him on waivers, as they have designated him for assignment.

This decision came after his appearance against the Minnesota Twins on Monday, where he gave up four earned runs on four hits and three walks while serving as a long reliever.

It was his MLB debut and he pitched five innings in relief and helped save the team's bullpen from being overworked due to an early exit by starter Johnny Cueto.

Still, the Marlins have decided to jettison him off the 40-man roster.

For his minor-league career, the 26-year-old has compiled a 3.75 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, with 227 strikeouts over 271 innings and 63 appearances.

It's expected that Lindgren will clear waivers and return to the Marlins' Triple-A affiliate, the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp. Photo Credit: Rhona Wise-USA TODAY Sports
