Assigned to AAA Salt Lake and placed on the Development List:
C Christian Molfetta
INF Preston Palmeiro
C Chris Okey signed to a minor league deal and assigned to CPX Angels.
DSL Angels released INF Dewis De Jesus.
Okey provides the Angels with some added organizational catching depth while Logan O'Hoppe and Matt Thaiss continue to take care of the catching duties at the major-league level.
Primary catcher Max Stassi has been dealing with a hip injury and a family emergency, which is why he's not available to begin the season.
The 28-year-old Okey made his MLB debut last season with the Reds, playing seven games, but spent the majority of the season at Triple-A Louisville, slashing .220/.279/.356, with two home runs, 14 RBIs, and 18 runs scored across 41 games.
He's a former second-round pick by the Reds in the 2016 MLB Draft.
