Chicago White Sox Place Pitcher On Waivers
The Chicago White Sox have decided to make a change to their bullpen by designating right-handed pitcher José Ruiz for assignment.
The 28-year-old had a difficult start to the season, giving up nine runs in just 3.2 innings across four appearances, leading to his removal from the roster.
Ruiz had signed a one-year contract with the team in January but struggled to find his form on the mound.
Prior to today’s series opener at Pittsburgh, the #WhiteSox designated right-handed pitcher José Ruiz for assignment and selected the contract of right-hander Jesse Scholtens from Class AAA Charlotte.

As a result of Ruiz's designation, he may be sent to Triple-A Charlotte, claimed by another team, or released outright.
Meanwhile, the White Sox have brought up Jesse Scholtens from Charlotte to take Ruiz's place on the roster and bolster their pitching staff.
For his career, Ruiz holds a 4.53 ERA, 1.48 WHIP, with 181 strikeouts over 178.2 innings and 178 appearances. Photo Credit: Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports
