Boston Red Sox Place Right-Handed Pitcher On Waivers
That was short-lived.
The Boston Red Sox called up Jake Faria from Triple-A Worcester to join the Boston Red Sox over the weekend.
However, after not getting a chance to play in the team's previous game against the Los Angeles Angels, Faria was designated for assignment on Monday to make room for another player on the 26-man active roster.
Several roster moves for the Red Sox:

As Faria has no minor league options remaining, he was removed from the 40-man roster and could pass through waivers unclaimed to remain with the club as additional relief depth. Still, a team may show interest and claim him.
Over his four-year career, the 29-year-old has compiled a 4.70 ERA, 1.41 WHIP, with 185 strikeouts across 203 innings and 72 appearances.
The Red Sox signed Faria to a minor-league contract back in February.
