Oakland Athletics Rumors: Veteran Reliever Likely to be Moved
During the offseason, the Oakland Athletics signed Trevor May to a one-year contract. Although he will begin the season with Oakland, it is rather unlikely he will finish it there due to the fact that they are in a full-on rebuild.
May signed with the A's after a rough 2022 season with the New York Mets. Although he sported a 2-0 record, his 5.04 ERA displays that he struggled to find consistency. As a result of this, he has now signed this prove-it deal with the A's in hopes of turning things back around.
Overall, if May ends up finding his previous form, he will become of the top relievers available at the deadline. The A's will be banking on this happening, as it would lead to them landing a decent return for the 6-foot-5 righty. Teams who could be in the running for his services at the deadline include the New York Yankees, Tampa Bay Rays, Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago White Sox, and potentially even the Mets.
Nevertheless, we will need to wait and see where May ends up being moved at the deadline from here.
