Oakland Athletics Announce First Spring Roster Cuts
The Oakland Athletics have made their first round of roster cuts this spring.
The A's have optioned pitcher Luis Medina and outfielder Cal Stevenson to Triple-A Las Vegas.
Medina was acquired last summer from the New York Yankees in the deal that saw Frankie Montas head to the Bronx. He'll now begin the season at Triple-A.
The 23-year-old has a very real chance of making his major-league debut this season, after recording a lackluster 5.24 ERA, 1.54 WHIP, with 107 strikeouts over 92.2 innings and 24 starts last season in the minors.
The A's have optioned Luis Medina and Cal Stevenson to Las Vegas and reassigned 14 non-roster invitees to minor league camp (RHPs Ginn, Guerra, Jefferies, Juan, Long, Miller, Ruiz and Supak, C Susac, INFs Clement, Cron, Davidson and Muncy and OF Cody Thomas
