New York Yankees Given Bad Injury News

While speaking with reporters, New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman announced that top free-agent signing Carlos Rodon has a mild forearm strain and will begin the season on the injured list.

This is certainly disappointing news, as Yankee fans are naturally excited to see Rodon make his debut. Yet, now they are going to need to wait to see the All-Star pitcher. However, on the bright side, this appears to be a minor issue rather than a long-term one at the time of this writing.

Rodon spent this past season with the San Francisco Giants, where he had a 14-8 record to go along with a 2.88 ERA and a career-high 237 strikeouts in 31 appearances. After a season like this, he is expected to be one of the Yankees' best pitchers in 2023.

Cashman also noted that Tommy Kahnle and Lou Trivino will also start the season on the injured list. In 13 games last season for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Kahnle had a 2.84 ERA. Trivino, on the other hand, was excellent for New York after being traded there by the Oakland A's, as he had a 1.66 ERA in 25 games.
