New York Mets Sign Free Agent Starter
The New York Mets have added Humberto Mejia to their minor league roster to strengthen their pitching depth ahead of the 2023 season.
Mejia, a 26-year-old right-handed pitcher, was signed to a minor-league contract after spending last season with the Arizona Diamondbacks organization and finishing the season in the Mexican League.
Panama's 12-5 win was driven by players with Mets ties:

While Mejia struggled in his last major-league season, posting a 7.25 ERA, 1.84 WHIP, and 20 strikeouts over five starts and 22.1 innings, he has a solid track record in the minors with a 3.39 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, and 374 strikeouts in 64 starts over 396 innings.
With his potential to perform well in the minors, Mejia may earn a call-up to the majors later this season.
His addition is expected to bolster the Mets' pitching depth and add experience to their Triple-A Syracuse rotation.
