MLB Rumors: Boston Red Sox & Oakland A's Talking Trade
The Boston Red Sox are heading into the 2023 season with the expectation of becoming a playoff team again. Although they wish to be competitive again, they also lost multiple players this offseason. As a result of this, they are looking to add to the rotation, and now they are rumblings that they are interested in Oakland A’s, pitcher Paul Blackburn because of it.
Blackburn is coming off of an All-Star campaign, so his trade value is arguably at his highest. As a result, the rebuilding A's are at least considering the prospect of moving him at this time. When noting that the Red Sox could use another arm in their rotation, it also is understandable that they are looking at Blackburn as a potential option.
When looking at the Red Sox’s rotation, it is fair to argue that they could use one more pitcher. If Blackburn can replicate the success he had in the first half of last season, he would be a very impactful addition to their group.
The A’s are likely going to wait until we get closer to the deadline to move Blackburn, so we will need to wait and see if the Red Sox decide to make a major push for him from here. On paper, there appears to be a great match here, but time will tell if it does in fact come to fruition.
