MLB Insider Reveals BLOCKBUSTER Trade That Nearly Happened
The MLB world was recently abuzz with talk of a potential trade that nearly happened but didn't.
ESPN's MLB insider Jeff Passan recently dropped a bombshell on Twitter, revealing that the New York Yankees had once considered trading Aaron Judge to the Atlanta Braves.
The proposed trade, which was likely discussed when Judge was still a highly touted prospect in the Yankees' minor-league system, would have included 10 players in total:
New York Yankees receive:
- Jason Heyward
- Andrelton Simmons
- B.J. Upton
- Chris Johnson
- David Carpenter
Atlanta Braves receive
- Aaron Judge
- Luis Severino
- Gary Sanchez
- Manny Bañuelos
- Ian Clarkin
While such a trade would be highly unlikely these days, the thought of Judge playing alongside Ronald Acuña and Michael Harris in the Braves' outfield is certainly enticing.
I’m old and got it backward. The deal actually would’ve sent Aaron Judge, Luis Severino, Gary Sanchez, Manny Bañuelos and Ian Clarkin to Atlanta for Jason Heyward, Andrelton Simmons, B.J. Upton, Chris Johnson and David Carpenter. Safe to say Yankees are happy they didn’t say yes.

However, had the trade gone through, it obviously would have been a disaster for the Yankees, as losing Judge would have been an emphatic failure on the part of the team's GM Brian Cashman.
