Kansas City Royals Sign Left-Handed Pitcher
The Kansas City Royals have signed left-handed pitcher Jake Brentz to a two-year, $1.9 million contract.
Brentz was previously non-tendered by the Royals last November after making only eight relief appearances before undergoing season-ending elbow surgery in July 2022.

Despite the injury, the Royals have signed Brentz with hopes that he can contribute to the team in the future.
Brentz will spend the upcoming 2023 season on the 60-day injured list continuing his rehabilitation from Tommy John surgery, which he underwent in the middle of July 2022.
Prior to his injury, Brentz struggled in the few appearances he made with the Royals, allowing 14 earned runs across 5.1 innings while striking out nine and allowing 10 free passes.
Entering his third major-league season, the 28-year-old has compiled a 5.19 ERA, 1.49 WHIP, with 85 strikeouts across 69.1 innings and 80 appearances.
