Kansas City Royals Rumors: Veteran Reliever to be Shopped

Aroldis Chapman inked a one-year contract with the Kansas City Royals this offseason. He should be a solid addition to their bullpen, but there’s an incredibly high chance that he will be moved at the deadline. After all, the Royals are not expected to be a playoff team this season, so he stands out as a prime rental candidate.

Chapman is aiming to have a bounce-back season in 2023. The last few years with the New York Yankees were rough for the former All-Star, so perhaps a change of scenery could be exactly what he needs to turn things back around. With that, he will be playing for a team with far less pressure with the Royals.

Teams who will likely pursue the veteran reliever include the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Cubs, New York Mets, Los Angeles Dodgers, Houston Astros, St. Louis Cardinals, and Tampa Bay Rays. Alas, we will need to wait and see what happens with Chapman as we get closer to the deadline, but don't be surprised in the slightest if he is moved from the rebuilding Royals.
