Injury-Plagued Mets Hurler Has Stress Reaction In Elbow
With a history of Tommy John surgery, plus other elbow, knee, back, and shoulder-related surgeries, it's been a rough ride for 26 year old hard-throwing New York Mets righty Bryce Montes de Oca. His latest setback is another elbow malady.
Mets’ hard-throwing right-hander Bryce Montes de Oca has been diagnosed with a stress reaction in his right elbow, sources tell @BallySports and @Stadium. There is no ligament damage, which is best-case scenario for the Mets. He’ll be re-evaluated in about a week or so.

According to reports, Montes de Oca has been diagnosed with a stress reaction in his right elbow. There is no ligament damage. He’ll be re-evaluated in about a week or so. The news certainly could have been worse, so this is a best-case scenario.
Despite his age, he's still the No. 22-ranked Mets prospect on MLB Pipeline, as he only got his minor league career going in 2021. He owns a 3.80 ERA in 85 innings in the Mets' farm system, striking out a whopping 13.4 batters per nine.
He had a three-inning cup of coffee with the Blue & Orange last season, and displayed some of his filthy stuff, regularly hitting triple-digits on the radar gun.
Hopefully this will be a minor setback and we'll get a chance to see that insane sinker again at some point this season.Bryce Montes de Oca, Disgusting 101mph Sinkers. 🤮 pic.twitter.com/40ElVbaIpo
