He signed with the Rockies in 2017 and has since established himself as a five-tool player, showcasing his excellent defense and impressive offensive skills.
While Tovar initially struggled offensively, he has made significant progress in recent years, culminating in a breakout season in Double-A Hartford in 2022.
Despite a groin injury that kept him out for over two months, Tovar hit .318/.386/.546 with 13 home runs and stole 17 bases in 20 attempts.

He was named to the Futures Game roster and was expedited to the majors, appearing in just five Triple-A games.
Although Tovar's major league debut wasn't overly impressive, the Rockies' front office remains bullish on his potential, projecting a solid 2023 season for him. Tovar's combination of elite defense, improving offensive game, and overall potential make him one of the top prospects in baseball and a name to keep an eye on this season.
At just 21 years old, Tovar has already been named the Rockies' everyday shortstop for the 2023 season. As a result, he'll have plenty of opportunities to continue to develop and showcase his skills at the major league level.
