Colorado Rockies Sign Veteran Infielder

The Colorado Rockies have made a depth move, as they have signed veteran slugger Mike Moustakas to a minor league contract.

Moustakas was released by the Cincinnati Reds in January after a rough tenure with the team, but now he will have the opportunity of a fresh start with the Rockies. If he impresses at spring training, there is a good chance that he could make their Opening Day roster. This is especially so when noting that Brendan Rodgers is out long term and Moustakas can play multiple positions in the infield.

Moustakas appeared in 78 games last season with the Reds, where he had seven home runs, 25 RBIs, and a .214 batting average. Overall, the three-time All-Star had a rough go of things, but let's see if he can get things back on track with the Rockies from here.

In 1,315 career MLB games, Moustakas has 203 home runs, 635 RBIs, and a .247 batting average.
