Washington Nationals Sign Outfielder
The Washington Nationals have a new outfielder in their system, as they have signed Blake Rutherford to a minor league contract.
Rutherford spent this past season with Triple-A Charlotte, and it was a pretty solid year for him overall. In 116 games with the Triple-A squad, he set a new career-high with 13 home runs. With that, he recorded 58 RBIs and sported a .271 batting average. Overall, it was a strong year for the 25-year-old, and now he will be aiming to translate that over to the Nationals system in 2023.
With the Nationals sporting a weak roster, perhaps Rutherford could be in the running to have his contract selected if he impresses at spring training. Alas, we will need to wait and see what happens on that front from here.
