Texas Rangers Hire All-Star Second Baseman; Played 8 Years With Rangers

Well, this is fun.

The Texas Rangers have hired Ian Kinsler as a special assistant to baseball operations.

Kinsler will serve as a special assistant to general manager Chris Young.

Over the course of his career, Kinsler was a four-time All-Star, two-time Gold Glove winner, and a Silver Slugger award winner. He retired from MLB following the 2018 season.

He spent the majority of his career with the Texas Rangers (8 years), but also played for the Detroit Tigers (4 years) and spent a year with the Los Angeles Angels, San Diego Padres and the Boston Red Sox.

Kinsler, now 40-years old, left behind an all-time .269/.337/.440 triple-slash line, with 257 home runs, 909 RBIs, 243 stolen bases and 1,243 runs scored over his 14-year career.

He was drafted by the Rangers in the 17th round of the 2003 MLB Draft.
