Tampa Bay Rays Sign Veteran Utility Specialist

Now, the Tampa Bay Rays have signed Charlie Culberson to a minor-league contract with an invite to spring training.

Culberson isn't just limited to third base, however, as he offers extensive experience between multiple defensive spots.

Over his last two seasons with the Texas Rangers, Culberson has posted a .246/.292/.373 triple-slash line, tacking on seven home runs, 34 RBIs, nine stolen bases and 42 runs scored.

The thirty-three-year-old will compete this spring for a role on the Rays' season-opening roster.

For his 10-year career, Culberson holds a .248/.293/.386 triple-slash line, with 30 home runs, 145 RBIs, 21 stolen bases and 140 runs scored across 585 games played.

He is a former first-round pick by the San Francisco Giants in the 2007 MLB Draft.
