With both Matt Vierling and Nick Maton joining the Detroit Tigers this offseason, Sosa has an increased chance of opening the season in a reserve role for the Phillies.
As a result, some added versatility only helps to land him a role on the Phillies' 40-man roster as he looks to develop into a super-utility specialist.
As of right now, there is no backup option behind Brandon Marsh in center, so if Sosa proves capable, he could take over that role.
The twenty-six-year-old joined the Phillies in the second half of the 2022 season, getting into 25 games and posting a strong .315/.345/.593 triple-slash line, with two home runs, 13 RBIs, three stolen bases and nine runs scored.
