Padres Top Prospect Undergoes Surgery; Out Multiple Months
A broken ankle will sideline #Padres infielder Eguy Rosario until midsummer. The regulars playing in the WBC would have allowed him extensive playing time this spring in front of big-league staff. https://t.co/VV2351sZZF pic.twitter.com/whu7qhpSQL

Rosario suffered the injury during Winter Ball and ultimately needed surgery.
It's a tough break for the youngster, who had a good shot of making the Padres' Opening Day roster as a utility player.
The twenty-three-year-old made his major-league debut last season, playing seven games for the Padres.
He spent the bulk of the 2022 season with Triple-A El Paso, slashing a solid .288/.368/.508, with 22 home runs, 81 RBIs, 21 stolen bases and 98 runs scored over 124 games played.
Rosario is the Padres' fifth-ranked prospect. He should be ready to return sometime this summer.
