New York Yankees Sign Capable Left-Handed Reliever

An interesting addition by the New York Yankees.

The Yankees have signed left-handed pitcher Nick Ramirez to a minor-league contract with an invite to spring training.

Ramirez spent the 2022 season with Triple-A Tacoma of the Seattle Mariners, recording a strong 2.93 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, with 53 strikeouts across 55.1 innings and 53 relief appearances. He converted 16 saves and held a 3-4 record.

The former first baseman-turned-pitcher will function as quality relief depth for the Yankees heading into the 2023 season.

Over three seasons in the majors, the thirty-three-year-old has compiled a 4.55 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, and 99 strikeouts over 110.2 innings. He's spent time with the Detroit Tigers and the San Diego Padres.

The former fourth-round pick by the Milwaukee Brewers in 2011 Draft has enjoyed much more success in the minors, recording a 2.95 ERA over 274 innings in his minor-league career.

Ramirez will look to secure a spot in the Yankees' season-opening bullpen with a strong spring training.
