New York Mets DFA Outfielder Currently Under Investigation By The MLB

Off the 40-man roster.

The New York Mets have designated outfielder Khalil Lee for assignment.

The Mets needed to clear up a spot on their 40-man roster after claiming pitcher Sam Coonrod off waivers from the Philadelphia Phillies. Lee is currently under investigation by Major League Baseball from a lawsuit that accuses him of assault last year in Syracuse, New York.

Lee will likely go unclaimed on waivers and will probably end up being released by the Mets.

The twenty-four-year-old has played just 13 games in the majors. For his minor-league career, he holds a .251/.373/.787 triple-slash line, with 61 home runs, 268 RBIs, 120 stolen bases and 365 runs scored over 2,125 at-bats.

Lee is a former third-round pick by the Kansas City Royals in the 2016 MLB Draft.
