Mariners Pitcher Goes Unclaimed On Waivers; Sent Outright
He was designated for assignment last week but passed through waivers unclaimed.
As a result, the Seattle Mariners have sent pitcher J.B. Bukauskas outright to Triple-A Tacoma.
Bukauskas was claimed off waiver from the Arizona Diamondbacks in January, but he lost his 40-man roster spot to Tayler Saucedo, whom the Mariners claimed off waivers on last week.
The twenty-six-year-old missed the entire 2022 season due to shoulder and hamstring injuries.
He made his major-league debut in 2021 with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Unfortunately, it didn't go so well, as Bukauskas posted a 7.79 ERA over 21 appearances.
His minor-league career has been much better, as he has recorded a career 3.89 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, and 227 strikeouts over 196.2 innings of work.
Bukauskas will continue to function as additional pitching depth for the Mariners.
