Kansas City Royals Designate Pitcher for Assignment
With Zack Greinke's signing made official today (Feb. 3), the Kansas City Royals needed to free up a roster spot for him. As a result, Anthony Misiewicz has been removed from their 40-man roster and been designated for assignment.
Misiewicz appeared in 32 games this past season split between the Seattle Mariners and Royals, where he had a 1-2 record to go along with a 4.34 ERA. Overall, it was not the best season for him, so perhaps this DFA could have been predicted. Yet, he will now be hoping for a fresh start elsewhere for next season.
With Misiewicz being DFA'd, the Roylas will now have one week to either trade him or place him on waivers. We will need to wait and see if another team takes a chance on him due to this MLB experience from here.
