Injury Updates On Two Oakland Athletics Pitchers
Both pitchers finished last season on the injured list.
Left-handed reliever Sam Moll and right-handed reliever Zach Jackson are both listed as available options out of the Oakland Athletics bullpen for Monday's Cactus League game against the Colorado Rockies, according to Matt Kawahara of the San Francisco Chronicle.
Moll had been sidelined for the final three weeks of the 2022 season due to a left shoulder strain, but he appears to be healthy enough to make his spring debut.
Prior to the injury, Moll posted a 2.91 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, and a 46 strikeouts across 43.1 innings for Oakland, earning two wins and 16 holds. He is expected to settle into a middle-relief or setup role in the Athletics bullpen for the start of the 2023 season.
On the other hand, Jackson suffered a shoulder strain in early September 2022 and finished the season on the injured list.
However, he avoided surgery and is now listed as an available option for Monday's game.
The Athletics have not yet announced their closer for Opening Day, but Jackson is expected to factor into the late-inning mix after an impressive rookie season. In 54 appearances spanning 48 innings, Jackson recorded a 3.00 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, and a 67:33 K:BB ratio, while earning three saves and 27 holds. Photo Credit: Neville E. Guard-USA TODAY Sports
