Injury Update On Cincinnati Reds Joey Votto

He's entering his 17th major league season.

Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto is slowly recovering from surgery to address a torn rotator cuff in his left shoulder.

Reds manager David Bell told reporters that Votto is likely to miss the first few exhibition games of spring training as he ramps up his activity. However, Votto took batting practice on Monday, indicating a positive step in his recovery.

Votto's injury limited him to just 91 games last season, but the Reds have made some noteworthy offseason signings, including Wil Myers, and have hinted at giving Tyler Stephenson more playing time.

This creates a potential logjam at first base in Cincinnati. Despite this, it is expected that Votto will be ready to return Cincinnati order at the start of the 2023 campaign.

The thirty-nine-year-old had a disappointing season last year, slashing just .205/.319/.689, with 11 home runs, 41 RBIs and 31 runs scored across 91 games.
