Chicago White Sox & Boston Red Sox Complete Trade
The Boston Red Sox have traded Franklin German to the Chicago White Sox in exchange for Theo Denlinger.
German appeared in his first five MLB games this season, where he allowed eight earned runs on seven hits in four innings pitched. Needless to say, it was not a particularly strong first start for the 6-foot-2 righty, but now he will be aiming to make a bigger impact as a member of the White Sox during the 2023 campaign.
The Red Sox needed to either trade or place German on waivers by the end of the week, as he was designated for assignment.
Denlinger, on the other hand, is a prospect who is going to need more time in the minor leagues before cementing himself as a potential MLB pitcher. In 40 games this season split between Single-A+ and Double-A, the 6-foot-3 righty had a 2-2 record to go along with a 4.47 ERA.
