Pittsburgh Pirates Sign Veteran Utility Player
The Pittsburgh Pirates have made a depth move, as they have signed veteran utility player Chris Owings.
Owings is looking to bounce back from what was a truly disastrous 2022 season with the Baltimore Orioles. In 26 games with the AL East squad, he had an immensely low .107 batting average and was eventually let go because of it. Yet, the new year offers a clean slate, and he will be looking to make the most of it with the Pirates from here.
With the Pirates sporting a rather weak roster, there is a chance that he could make their major league roster by impressing at spring training. Alas, at a minimum, the Pirates have added a 10-year veteran to their depth with this signing.
