Baltimore Orioles Sign Shortstop

The Baltimore Orioles add some depth.

The Orioles have signed shortstop Gilbert Lara to a minor-league contract.

Lara spent all of last season with Double-A Harrisburg, the Washington Nationals affiliate, posting an underwhelming .217/.272/.593 triple-slash line, with seven home runs, 31 RBIs and 21 runs scored over 88 games played.

Looking at his minor-league resume, it's safe to say that Lara will have to do a lot more if he wants to make his major-league debut any time soon.

The twenty-five-year-old holds a .235/.275/.338 triple-slash line, with 37 home runs, 271 RBIs, 10 stolen bases and 234 runs scored across 635 games in the minors.

He'll function as organizational infield depth.
